Earlier this month I had the pleasure of participating in a March Wedding Vendor Challenge hosted by Brenda’s Wedding Blog. Brenda gave us a color palette that we needed to work with but gave us creative freedom to design an intimate table-scape for two with a dessert display. I was really excited about this opportunity because I have wanted to do a shoot for a while which reflects me. As a photographer we are constantly capturing other couples visions of their day. Their style, their decor, who they are and how they want their day to look. So to be the creative director for the shoot was really cool. I have always loved Eco-minded options. I’m so glad that the wedding industry has begun to embrace and recognize alternative options for weddings that are much friendlier for the environment. Because I am a photographer I use nature as my backdrop, so anything I can do to preserve the beauty of the earth, I will.
Below I’ve listed each piece involved in the shoot and how it was an Eco-friendly alternative.
~ The table and linens were brought in from our own collection of household items.
~The milk glass plates, silverware, and napkins were picked up at a local thrift store {LOVE it when you discover great finds!!!}
~The plate chargers were made from a wooden stump.
~The white rod iron chairs were salvaged from my neighbors trash pile, spray painted bright white and given sod seat cushions.
~The menu cards, name tags, and invitations were all made from burlap and hemp twine.
~ The cupcakes from the dessert table were sprinkled with lavender. Immediately following the shoot they were generously donated to all the neighbors who helped make this shoot possible.
~The bouquet was created from wildflowers, kale leaves and broccoli {So I guess I could’ve made it into a salad after the shoot
}
I loved participating in this vendor challenge. I think the goal of this shoot for me was to show how Eco alternative decor can be both better for the environment and just as stylish and modern as any wedding decor.
